The girl’s face lights up
Brighter than the tree itself
Presents carpeting the floor
The Mother looks disapproving
For all of this seems unnecessary
But dad is laughing
Like a child himself
As the girl opens the presents
Tearing off the sparkly wrapping
And throwing it to the floor
Smiling and squealing as she opened everyone
She thought she was finished
Thanking her parents
But there was one more
And as she smiling the biggest
Words failing her
As she hugged her brand new doll’
Even mom smiled
